Prairie Heritage Wheat Free Peppernuts are flavored with a blend of spices and Anise Oil. Our Wheat Free recipe uses a rice flour blend that contains no gluten.
Peppernuts have been a tradition for many German families for centuries. Traditionally, the dough was packed in crocks and stored in the fruit-room of the cellar so that the spices blended smoothly with the sugar and flour. Dough was shaped into ropes and then sliced to form tiny round cookies. Some preferred to roll the dough flat and cut it in using thimbles.
The 8 oz size serves 7 and makes a delightful gift for co-workers and friends.
